Skin textural irregularities is a general term to describe bumps, enlarged pores, and/or rough patches on the skin. The skin can become uneven in texture or congested for a number of reasons, the most common being sebum build up, hormones, and/or sun exposure.

Common textural irregularities are:

  1. Milia - Milia are small (1-2mm), bump-like cysts found under the skin. They form when skin flakes, oil, or dirt become trapped under the skin and form into small compact spheres. Milia most often appears around the eyelids and on the cheeks, but can occur anywhere.

  2. Enlarged Pores - Enlarged pores occur as a result of laxity in the skin or an over production of sebum occurs.

  3. Scarring - Scarring is caused as result of trauma or inflammation to the skin. For more information on acne scarring click here.
