The active ingredient in Belkyra is deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is one of the body’s naturally occurring bile salts. When deoxycholic acid is injected into a targeted area the aid then begins to destroy the unwanted fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells can no longer store or accumulate fat.

Belkyra is a liquid that is injected into a targeted area to break down unwanted fat. When fat cells are broken down they release their contents. Free fatty acids and glycerol, what has previously been stored in the fat cells, then travel back to your liver for processing or through your kidneys for natural elimination. With a few treatments, problem areas can be significantly reduced or eliminated altogether.

We start with a consultation to determine whether you are a good candidate for a Belkyra treatment. A cosmetic injector can estimate how many treatments would be most beneficial for you and will explain the process thoroughly.
A temporary grid design is placed on the treatment area as a guide for the injector. Injections are delivered through a very fine needle and sessions typically take between 15-30 minutes.
After your treatment is complete you are likely to experience tingling, this is common and not a cause for concern. Tingling will dissipate between 1 and 3 hours post-injection. Swelling will also occur post-treatment and will resolve within a couple of days after injection. You can however return to your regular day immediately!
You will notice your full results within 3-4 weeks post-treatment as the excess fat takes time to naturally dissolve dissolves.
