Excessive Sweating (Hyperhidrosis)

Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition described as sweating beyond what is necessary to cool the body. The most common areas affected are the hands, feet, groin, face and underarms.

Botox for Hyperhidrosis

HyperhidrosisBOTOX® is the only prescription medicine approved by Health Canada for the treatment of axillary hyperhidrosis (increased underarm sweating).

BOTOX® injections consist of treating the affected area – using an ultra-fine needle – with localized injections. This option is appropriate for people who have focal hyperhidrosis in their underarms. Since the treatment is virtually painless, the underarms, face and head, can be treated without anaesthesia.

Within one to two weeks, your excessive sweating should be reduced to a normal level or less. In general terms, the amount of medication you were injected with will dictate the longevity of the treatment. Treatment response has been reported to persist for 4 to 7 months.
